The
mission of the Advancement Office is to develop support
among external constituencies for the Jones Center’s
mission, goals, programs and activities. Advancement consists
of development and communications. We seek to increase
awareness of the Jones Center’s resources and to
raise private
funding to enhance the Jones Center’s educational
and recreational programming, as well as to anticipate
our region’s future needs.
Why Give to the Jones Center?
The Jones Center is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization
that provides a unique recreational facility and educational
forum for residents of Northwest Arkansas and beyond.

Annual Giving
Our annual giving program provides a base of support
for the Jones Center’s daily operations. Annual
gifts address a broad range of our immediate needs and
enhance the services we provide. Most donors provide
gifts in the form of check, debit or credit card, or
automatic bank draft. To increase your annual impact,
you may sign up for monthly automatic deductions from
your banking or credit card account. Contact our Coordinator of Annual Giving to find out
more: giving@jcf.jonesnet.org.
| Giving Circle: Corporate
Friends of Harvey |
This
giving circle welcomes private support from individuals,
corporations and foundations. Members share Harvey’s
spirit of creating opportunities for families
in Northwest Arkansas. |
Giving Circles
To maximize your gift, you may choose to participate in
one of our giving circles: Friends
of Bernice or Corporate
Friends of Harvey. These circles consist of the Jones
Center’s most loyal benefactors who make five-year
commitments to augmenting our endowment. The endowment acts like a permanent savings account for
the Jones Center to provide a perpetual source of income
for operations, services and programming. Each gift to
the endowment enhances our ability to serve Northwest
Arkansas' needs well into the future.
Memorials and Chapel Chairs
Gifts can be made to the Jones Center in honor and in memory of a loved one in the form of memorials. Gifts can also be made in honor, memory or celebration of those closest to you through our Chapel Chair campaign. Contact the Advancement office for more information about these giving opportunities.
Major Gifts and Planned Gifts
- Endowment
The endowment acts like a permanent savings account
for the Jones Center to provide a perpetual source
of income for staff salaries, building maintenance,
services and programming. Each gift to the endowment
enhances our ability to serve Northwest Arkansas'
needs and to enrich educational and recreational programs.
The Jones Center's goal in endowment management is
to invest endowment gifts so that they maintain their
value in real terms over time. We invest the initial
gift and spend only a portion of the average annual
investment return. The remaining income is added to
principal as protection against the eroding consequences
of inflation. Thus, the benefactor who makes an endowment
gift today may be confident that it will grow and
continue to support its intended purpose far into
the future.
- Cash Gifts
Cash is the simplest, most direct and most popular
type of charitable gift. A gift of cash to the Jones
Center is recorded as a contribution on the date it
is hand-delivered or mailed. The net cost to you can
be much less than the actual amount of the gift because
of the charitable deduction. A cash gift is deductible
for up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income.
Any amount in excess of the 50 percent ceiling can
be carried over for five years.
- Matching Gifts
Many corporations will match or multiply their employees’
gifts to The Jones Center. Check with your human resources
department to find out if your employer participates
and, if so, ask for the appropriate forms to qualify
for matching gift support.
- Retirement Funds
During 2007 (and perhaps beyond, depending on current legislation pending in Congress) direct rollovers (gifts) from IRA's to the Jones Center are possible if the donor is 70 1/2 or older. The direct gift from the IRA to the Jones Center is not included in the donor's income for the year of the gift, yet such transfers do count against minimum distributions for the year. A donor's total gifts to charities from this source may not exceed $100,000 per year.
- Securities and Real Estate
Gifts of appreciated property, such as securities
(stocks and bonds) and real estate, generate a double
tax benefit. In addition to receiving an income-tax
charitable deduction for the full, fair market value
of the property, you avoid any potential tax on the
capital-gain element in the gifted property if the
property has been held for over a year. The full,
fair market value of gifts of long-term, appreciated
property is deductible up to 30 percent of your adjusted
gross income. Any amount over the 30 percent ceiling
can be carried forward up to five additional years.
- Tangible Personal Property
As with gifts of securities or real estate, you are
entitled to a charitable deduction for gifts of tangible
personal property such as works of art, rare books,
or stamp or coin collections. The allowable deduction
for such a gift held over 12 months depends on the
standard of "related use." If the use of
the contributed property is related to the Jones Center's
exempt purposes, you are entitled to a charitable
deduction for the full, fair market value of the property
-- subject to the 30 percent ceiling and carryover
discussed under the "Securities and Real Estate"
section above. If the use of the contributed property
is unrelated to the exempt purposes of the Jones Center
(e.g., a stamp or coin collection for the Jones Center
to sell and use the proceeds), you are entitled to
a deduction only for your cost in the property.
